Senior Associate Researcher

Wanja Njiriri is a senior researcher with expertise in gender, youth, and disability. She is also an activist with a passion for uplifting marginalized communities that have been held back by structural advantages. 

Wanja believes in equal access to fundamental rights and is committed to fighting for this cause by building people’s collective capacity to have democratic influence in decision-making and empowering communities with the tools they need to take charge of their own lives. She champions people-led change strategies and is dedicated to creating a future where everyone has a voice and can shape their destiny.

Wanja brings key thematic expertise in natural resource management and governance, value-chain development, gender analysis, integration, mainstreaming, and impact evaluation. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences and an MA in Development Studies, which have equipped her with a deep understanding of the interconnection between the environment and social justice. 

Wanja has also volunteered extensively in various organizations focused on sustainable development, community empowerment, and social justice. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and camping, as well as reading books on mental and social issues to expand her understanding of the world further.
