Sarah De Smet is a practical and curious academic with a passion for changing lives. She has worked on several projects related to gender and sustainable agricultural development, with a broad experience in Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.
She has spent her career challenging the status quo in the development world. Inspired by the dynamics of behavioural change, social and gender norms and differing cultural values between different stakeholders in the development process, she is determined to reveal how these dynamics influence each other and how they can contribute to sustainable change.
Her gender transformatory experience is related to PALS/GALS (Participatory/Gender Action Learning for Sustainability), with a toolkit designed in the methodology as well as field project implementation and research. Sarah holds a Master’s degrees in both Conflict and Development and Applied Economic Sciences. She speaks Dutch, French and English fluently.
